About Dawud Adib
Dawud Adib was born in the USA and accepted Islam in 1975. Shortly thereafter - without a teacher - he began to learn the Arabic language and by 1977 he was the regular khateeb (preacher) at two local mosques in his hometown of Newark, New Jersey including the musallaa (prayer hall) at the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry. From 1992 to 1994, he served as Director of Islamic Studies at the Islamic Day School in East Orange, New Jersey. In his capacity as Director, he also taught grades kindergarten through twelve. Brother Dawud has worked as a chaplain in three state correctional institutions; New Jersey, New York and Maryland teaching Arabic language and Islaamic studies also serving as an advocate for both Muslim and non-Muslim inmates alike. He has been an active participant in the Life Connections program at USP Leavenworth (Leavenworth Federal Prison). He has lectured throughout North America, Guyana (where he has delivered talks on both television and radio), Trinidad, Great Britain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Germany, Ireland at civic centers, prisons, elementary, secondary and high schools, colleges, universities and churches. His recordings like 'Why You Should be Muslim' and 'Who is Your Creator' have literally brought thousands of people to Islaam around the world and the former - 'Why You Should be Muslim' - has even been translated into some African tribal languages. Brother Dawud Adib is also well known for his recording 'Islam for the New Muslim series.
He has been the Imaam of five mosques in the USA and published two books.
